Willkommen to Yümlaut

You have found Yümlaut, the West Midlands’ finest artisan German street food. Brought to you by the team behind the award-winning Jabberwocky, we serve fresh, delicious food inspired by the Vaterland! From authentic imported sausage to locally sourced pork steak schnitzel, this is German food like you have never eaten before.

For the most part, I expect you have probably never eaten a schnitzel. Take a tender pork loin steak, breadcrumb it and fry in butter. Park that beautiful creation on one of our freshly baked buns and top with home-made kraut-slaw, smoked Bavarian cheese and crispy, crispy bacon: You have yourself a mouth-party. Served from our classic 1980s Bedford campervan which has been lovingly converted into a street food kitchen against the backdrop of the glorious Warwickshire countryside. Yüm.

From their base in Leamington Spa, Yümlaut takes food all over the West Midlands, from wurst in Warwick to strudel in Sutton to bratwurst in Birmingham, hamburgers in Henley and schnitzel in Stratford.

Street food is all about quality produce served in the great outdoors, so why not book us for your next gathering, event or private booking? We cater for weddings, street food events, festivals and corporate bookings of all kinds, so send us your requirements now and we will get you a quote.

Menus

A few of our favourite things. All served from our classic Bedford camper, all available at a location near you. Some are only possible as a sit down meal, because of the level of reverence commanded by that volume of meat. These are best suited to wedding breakfasts or banquet dinners.

Sausage Menu AKA Wurst
Served directly from the van at events of all sizes. Our sausages are imported directly from Germany and are made according to German purity laws, making them nothing short of very seriously good.

  • Bratwurst: Grilled German sausage served in an onion roll. Topped with beer & beef braised red cabbage, cheddar and crispy fried Salami
  • Nürnberger: 3 Small herb-flavoured sausages with onion relish and rocket in a dark rye bun
  • Currywurst: A chunky beef sausage in our signature curry sauce with mango chutney, raita and fire-roasted peppers (nominated for the 2016 Sandwich awards)
Dessert Menu AKA Strudel
Served directly from the van, this classic dessert is technically Austrian. Our strudel is made with all butter puff pastry and packed with homemade fillings. We set out to make the best one you can buy on the street. It’s your duty to test this now.

  • Apfel Strudel. Micro-sliced, locally foraged, skin-on apples for extra flavour, tossed in cinnamon and sugar before baking. Served with whipped double cream, salted caramel sauce and toasted almonds.
  • Black Forest Strudel. Cherries, raspberries, blackberries, blackcurrants and apples baked in puff pastry. Served with whipped double cream, chocolate sauce and mini marshmallows.
  • Cookie Dough Strudel. Double chocolate cookie dough baked in puff pastry and served with whipped double cream, chocolate sauce and a cookie crumb.
  • Nude Strudel (The Nudel). Hot out of the oven: puff pastry twisted with sugar and cinnamon, served with whipped double cream and any of the sauces above.
Breaded Pork Burger, AKA Schnitzel
Available direct from the van. Best suited to street food events of all sizes.

The Pork Schnitzel made it to the finals of the 2015 Cafe Life Awards.

All meat is breaded and fried in clarified butter. Served on a fresh triple seeded bun with smoked bavarian cheese, crispy bacon and home made kraut-slaw.

If you still have room after that, why not finish with strudel?

The Sausage Fest

Nürenburger – Small herb flavoured sausages
Frankfurter – Smoked, pork, beef and bacon sausages
Frikadellen – Pork and beef meat balls with herbs and onions

Accompanied by:

If you still have room after that, why not finish with strudel?

Yes, we could have called it anything else in the world. It didn’t need to be the sausage fest. But then we would have been missing out on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I’m sure you understand.
